MAPSS President Mark Abney along with Pres-elect Sheila Staton-Clifton, Wyn Kelley, Dave Skaer, and a guest from Arkansas Brittany Kaufman a soil scientists from the Pine Bluff MLRA were all in attendance. Missouri NRCS State Soil Scientist Clayton Lee retires
After 33 years of dedication to
Missouri's most important natural resource Clayton begins a new phase. On
August 12th all of Missouri's NRCS soil scientists including some retired dirt
diggers gathered at Prairie Fork Conservation Area to thank Clayton for
all he had done and wish him and his wife a happy retirement. A dear
friend and peer like no other Clayton will be dearly missed but he has vowed to
stay active with MAPSS and continue his great work with the Soil Shed. Two
promises I plan on holding him to!

for pictures from Clayton's retirement party and a few fun pics from his
life/career there is a short list of his travels and retirement plans at the
bottom.
Missouri's state soil, Menfro, is being displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. Click here to see a photo of the exhibit.
